Take some basic measurements to start the planning process
- 1. DECKS

- Take a picture of your home where deck is to be built
- Sketch a basic footprint for the planned deck
- Make note of any obvious constraints such as elevation, door locations, sidewalks or stairs
- 2. FENCING

- Determine basic length and layout
- Note typical post spacing and variations
- Note any obvious changes in grade
- Account for gates and access requirements
- 3. ROOFING

- Measure length, width and roof overhang of building
- Determine pitch or gable height
- Measure length of ridges, starter, valleys and gables
- 4. SIDING

- Measure length, width and height of building to be sided
- Note door and window sizes in consideration for trim requirements
- 5. SAUNAS

- Determine available space (need approximately 6’x7’ of floor space and a 7’ ceiling)
- Verify most likely number of occupants (typical)
